I appreciate less gore and more mental suspense. I am delighted your family got to experience this with you!

KristyBookwormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12457193753505851788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-211974510426729195.post-69289549036291895452009-09-30T20:25:04.903-05:002009-09-30T20:25:04.903-05:00I do LOVE horror movies. Rosemary's Baby has always been a favorite of mine.
I am not a big fan of the newer ones. I long for that feeling in the pit of your gut and the macabre music that lets you know you were right.
Oh to be young again hiding behind a pillow watching ,with only one eye, as Jack cuts his way through the door... Those were the days.
You, my friend, always bring back memories.Dorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13493706109133999816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-211974510426729195.post-67708095644761846372009-09-30T14:12:29.459-05:002009-09-30T14:12:29.459-05:00I liked your selections. Night of the Living Dead isn't one of my favorites to watch, but I can appreciate the movie for what it is.

Gotta agree with RKCharron: The Omen and The Birds are right up there, too. I still can't stand birds because of that movie.

Two very dark and creepy movies I've always loved are: The Seventh Seal and Freaks.

On the modern end, I enjoyed the Ring. First horror flick I'd seen in years that actually made me squee when the monster was shown.

Good stuff - have a blast with judging.T. I actually liked the Night of the Living Dead remake a bit more than the original. (I do own both.) I even found things I liked about the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Of course I am a sucker for true horror. My son tells me Paranormal Activity was lacking in any gore but was so scary that it made him have troubles going to sleep. I will be seeing that soon.

Enjoy the Horror Fest. Wish I could be there too.Zombie Joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08578475321952348107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-211974510426729195.post-51647124369506954942009-09-28T06:59:15.288-05:002009-09-28T06:59:15.288-05:00(sorry shOck not shack ... typo fairy must have wo...(sorry shOck not shack ... typo fairy must have woken up already :P)*lynne*https://www.blogger.com/profile/06245915758105430033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-211974510426729195.post-56605674462993481152009-09-28T06:58:28.981-05:002009-09-28T06:58:28.981-05:00I'm not one for horror movies, actually. Heck...I'm not one for horror movies, actually. Heck, just ~reading~ Stephen King's IT in bed at night (I was ~16 years old) had me convinced Pennywise was under my bed.

I don't know how I'd be after watching some of the movies that pass for horror these days, which seem to try to shack and gross you out, rather than genuinely scare you.

However, a few years ago my hubby convinced me to watch Slither - and I enjoyed it, surprisingly. Yes, it was a zombie movie, but it was ~funny~ too! Ditto for Shawn of the Dead. I guess what I'm saying is, if there's a slightly different angle that's also explored, preferably humourously, I'll be more inclined to watch a "horror" movie, perhaps even to like it. It helps that Slither also featured Captain Tightpants :)*lynne*https://www.blogger.com/profile/06245915758105430033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-211974510426729195.post-7587759200184313362009-09-28T06:45:38.907-05:002009-09-28T06:45:38.907-05:00Great selection of horror movies.
